My parents were slight hoarders so I've gone in the opposite direction. It does lead me to be a bit OCD sometimes but I'll take that over not being able to find anything and having junk piles everywhere.

Frankly, after decluttering the house many, many times in the past year, I'm APPALLED at all the junk I've collected over the years, and also all of the money I spent on that junk. Lots of expensive shoes, trinkets…it's just too much! It hurts that I haven't been able to sell most of it and have resorted to giving it away on freecycle and donating it to Goodwill. Sometimes it feels like throwing cash in the garbage! I'm definitely more mindful of my purchases now.

Early in the life of my blog, I did "Get Rid of Stuff Sundays" where I purged 7 items per week from my life. I've found that after this exercise, I'm much more mindful about what I decide to bring into my house… hence, less clutter!
