One Frugal Girl

If men ruled the world all parties would revolve around a tv.

Every year it seems another party rolls around. The bell tolls the very first time a good college or high school friend gets married. But then it keeps ringing and ringing and ringing. Some people have an engagement party, (a few of our friends have had 2 or 3 of these), then comes the the bridal shower, the bachelor/ette party, and then the wedding itself. All of these events are created by women for women. I mean even the wedding is all about the bride. After all the bride wears an expensive dress that took her months to find. The groom a $50 rented tuxedo.

If men had it their way parties would involve nothing more than a large screen TV and a bag of chips. The chips wouldn’t even be poured into a bowl. No they’d just be set out on the table in the very bag they were purchased in. And as a crazed, sports-loving female I’d be more than happy to attend that event.

So I’ve reached that age where all of my best college friends, co-workers, and high school friends have already tied the knot, and I ignorantly thought all of the parties would be over. But how could I forget that the baby showers are now set to begin.

Thinking about it tonight I came to the conclusion that the parties will never end. These parties will be followed by the 30th birthday parties, the 40th birthday parties, the kid’s graduation parties…
