Hitting a target number never felt so good!

Today’s mortgage payment has knocked the remaining principal on our primary mortgage down to $199,807.89. That’s right, as of today, December 1st, 2006, we are waving goodbye to the 200,000 dollar range.

We bought our house in August of 2000 for $260,000 and have managed to pay off over $60,000 in mortgage debt since that time. Looking towards the future we have only seven more years until we get to say good riddance to the $100,000 mark. And less than 12 years before the entire house is paid off!

  1. Congratulations! Whenever I get below a thousand mark with the student loans, it’s a cause to celebrate. In five days, we’ll finally be below $19K. $60,000 in six years is great progress! Keep it up.

  2. Thanks for the cheers! By the way I checked out your website today. I think being a military wife provides you with an interesting niche in the financial blogging world.
