@Michelle Parker - it's always easier to look for a job when you really don't need one :-) It definitely helped me.

@calgirlfinance - I think they could tell that I was pregnant, but since they can't ask questions they didn't know how far along I was during the interview process. I told some upfront but waited for offers before telling others. Surprisingly I didn't sense any issues with it. I'm sorry to hear that you encountered issues with that.

@Ruby Leigh - Some jobs wanted me to start right away for a particular position. Other companies were looking for someone w/ a specific set of skills that would be needed now and in the future. Clearly the latter was better for me when interviewing and I asked about that during the interview process.

I'm a long time reader, curious about one thing. When you went to the interviews, were you obviously pregnant? If yes, did you get any reactions about that? Good job on not being complacent. Some women decide to stay at home for a while and then can't find another job in the future!

I'm not looking for a job, but when I was pregnant, I did some interviewing and got some surprised looks from candidates. I worked in management consulting which is not female family friendly, but I've been able to make it work great for me.

That's great that you got such a great severance package. I agree, that would make interviewing much easier because you won't feel as stressed out without that income.
