I think the end product is all that matters. If someone can work efficiently and complete their tasks in a shorter amount of time, why not work less? I believe it rewards efficiency. But I’ve heard a phrase called ‘face time’, which refers to the need for employees to be physically seen in the office in order to be thought to be doing their job well. Who cares if they’re just checking ebay or playing minesweeper. Which, of course, is why it’s ridiculous.
