Hi Terri, Thank you for leaving a comment. I am sorry that you have gone through this and that you are returning to the Internet, because you may have to go through it all over again. My heart aches for your struggle. Do you have a solid support group and people that you can talk to? I have never gone through an actual cancer diagnosis, but I have had multiple scares. If you don't have anyone to talk with please let me be your long distance, email friend or just leave comments here. I can imagine you are angry and tired and on top of that I don't want you to feel alone.

That toxic person is me, myself. I have heard the diagnosis you have DCIS. Then I had the most aggressive treatment - a mastectomy. Then I heard the diagnosis you now have invasive cancer in your mastectomy scar line. And I had a repeat mastectomy to remove all the tissue left behind and nodes and then had radiation for 6 weeks and then tamoxifin for five years. I now face a second mamo and ultrasound tomorrow on my remaining breast in the face of assymetrical tissue concerns. Like a wild animal my old catastrophic thinking pounced and I wasted another afternoon researching even though I have lived it all except chemo. Sure I will be diagnosed with cancer a third time. I neeed to stop taking my own poison. I am angry and tired.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's good to know that we share common feelings and emotions and most importantly to know that we are not alone. Many of us encounters these moments in life and pushing through them often makes us much stronger.

99% of what is in here is exactly what I was going through and currently going through. The stages I went through with my breast cancer scare until I was finally able to get a biopsy. It ended up being clear. To thinking about leaving the money behind because I want to savor life and the people around me. To the toxic person in my life /our life. It made my heart feel light during this rough time it appears I have another scare (possible melanoma). Thank you for sharing and reminding me that the focus it live life to the fullest.

Thank you Mary Jo for sharing your story. I am sorry that you were diagnosed with breast cancer but glad to hear that it was small and caught early. It's so crazy how the fear of death brings us closer to life. I have had my fair share of scares throughout my forty years on this Earth. Every time I get complacent it seems a new medical fear reminds me to refocus on what is important. I'm so happy to hear that you view your cancer diagnosis as a silver lining. I feel the same way about the medical traumas I've experienced throughout my lifetime. It seems so odd to think that way, but it is indeed all I can think about. You can dwell on the bad parts or feel thankful for the wake up call. Like you I have chosen to embrace the call to live my best life as often as I can.

I just came upon your post on your health scare. I'm so happy that your follow up mammogram was clear! It resonated with me because I had that experience, but I wasn't quite as lucky. I did have breast cancer. It was small and caught early. I had a partial mastectomy and radiation, but didn't need chemotherapy. That was nearly four years ago and I count my blessings every day. You're right that such a scare can really clarify your thinking! I was able to let go of a lot of crap and just generally get a better perspective on everything. Bonus, it really helped my decision making processes on how I spend my time, and my money. Saving for the way I really want to live my life is much easier now. Even the worst things can sometimes result in a lovely silver lining!
