In reply to Dividend Power. Thanks for sharing what works for your family. My oldest loved hosting lemonade stands to earn money. We taught him to make the cookies, mix the lemonade, and shop for supplies. Unfortunately, we can't put up a stand this year, so he started raking leaves for neighbors. I think it's super important for kids to work for money, since that's what we all have to do eventually. Unfortunately, I don't make enough money off this blog to pay hiim ;)

My kids had the exact same toy cash register. I think that kids need to learn the value of money besides an allowance, which is free money. I pay my oldest child to help with my blogs newsletter. It’s enough that she understands that she is performing work and gets paid for it. She then manages her own money.

In reply to She's FIRE'd. Oh Bread and Jam is such a great book! We've read it so often that my kids have memorized it ;) I'll check out the Lemonade Wars and don't worry about copycat posts everything on the Internet is a copycat at this point.

Bread And Jam for Frances was my favorite book growing up too. I swear I was working on my recent post before I read yours- it’s not a copycat post!

When your kids get a little older they might like The Lemonade Wars (a book)
