@sense – thanks for your kind words. I'm concerned about my future employment, but happy that my husband and I live a frugal lifestyle. At least my coupon clipping ways will help the gap between jobs.

I have to share my story with you. I was in a miserable job in a miserable company when my second baby was born. I desperately did not want to go back to work. I took the 6 weeks paid time off after she was born and then I took "Family Leave" where I got 12 weeks unpaid. The company was NOT happy with me. The next round of layoffs (the company had been laying of at least one time a year for 5 years) I was laid off. I took my time finding a new job. It took me 8 months but the job was 8 miles from my house! Fast forward 2.5 years and I am now a part-time employee. I only work mornings so I have plenty of time to pick up the kids from school. I would NEVER have left my former company unless I was pushed and I was. Please look at this as a positive and an opportunity. Best of lucky to you and your family.
