@spaghetti0625 - Thanks for sharing your story with me. Having more time to contemplate the situation doesn't really help. One minute I think I'm making the right decision and the next minute I'm second guessing myself. I'm definitely concerned about going crazy at home without a little adult interaction. In the ideal situation I would find a less stressful job a few months after the little one comes along. I have a lot of contacts but finding the ideal job won't be easy.

@Maggie - It's good that you are using the package to pay off debt and getting your husband on the same page. That's usually half the battle!

I am so living your situation myself, although my boys at 16 and 11. Unfortunately I have not had my husband on my side with living below our means until just recently. Now he's even so more so on board. He hard me talk about living on one income but never internalized it. But he's agreed to downgrade our cable package, He also has the ability to get paid for hours worked above 40 and he's going to start doing that. With my package, we can pay off outstanding credit card debt. That leaved his school loans and DS16's parochial scool tuition paid from my slary. Everything else comes from him. All this gives me time to find the right position. I've got some promising irons in the fire. I am even going to ahve to turn down a 1099 opportunity presented to me that I am highly qualified for. But I am nto ready to give up my insurance for a temporary opportunity.

Reading your post made it come full circle for me. God (or whoever anyone believes in) always has a plan in place for everyone...and in time He or She will tell you what it is...well, He/She is telling you now! And you helped yourself pave your own way be living frugally.

I'm in the same boat kind of. I will be laid off come Sept 15th, but I've known for awhile so I've had more time to think of what to do....but you know what...more time to make a decision doesn't make it easier...if anything, it makes it harder b/c as time goes on, I've been second guessing myself!

I do feel I need to work to make ends meet for my goals for our future. Can we survive off DH's income, sure. But do I want to, not really. However, if Baby decides to come along, I know my mind will change.

But now that you will have some time off, have you thought of maybe keeping your co-workers, friends etc in contact? If so, maybe after baby is born (or even now, up to you) maybe you can teach a class on how to budget, save money, etc for a few bucks? That way, (esp if you do it after baby) you will have some 'adult' friends to talk to. A friend of mine goes nuts b/c all her adult friends are too busy and she just needs that 'adult' contact. That way you're helping people and they help you in return.

I'm sure with your creative mindset you will find something to keep you busy while you are home!
