Book Review:

DREAM IT & DO IT is a book for every kid who dreams big. It’s also for those kids who haven’t started dreaming yet. The book includes 100 stories about various writers, artists, helpers, doctors, entrepreneurs, product developers, scientists, and so much more.

Each story focuses on the importance of being brave. It introduces children to the concept of trying new things and not worrying if they stumble or fail in the process. I love that this book teaches kids to embrace failure rather than trying to avoid it. We can “try 99 times and fail, but what if you change the world the 100th time you try?” the author says.

How I wish I had read those words when I was a child and truly understood them. As a kid, I struggled with perfectionist tendencies. If I wasn’t good at something on the first try, I didn’t want to try again. The notion of being perfect kept me from trying new things and engaging in new experiences.

I want my kids to understand the importance of testing out their passions and searching for the things in this world that interest them. Along the way, I hope that they focus on being caring, compassionate, and empathetic.

Success isn’t just about earning a lot of money or climbing up the corporate ladder. This book helps change the definition of success. It will help kids understand that it’s important to search for your interests, follow your passions, and “improve the world around you.” If you make money in the process that’s great, but it doesn’t have to be the only goal.

Each story tells a lesson about triumph and victory. The author starts out telling the story of Dr. Seuss, but quickly introduces children to a whole host of others to admire.

This book does a great job of introducing kids to different career paths. Our mindset is often limited by our surroundings. This book will open kids eyes to new possibilities and options they might not have encountered in real life.

“Dream It & Do It by Holly Sharp is a perfect book for young
kids who want to find their place in this world and what they’d like to
be when they are older.”
