This weekend my mom and I found the perfect gadget for tailgates. A small, 3 quart crock pot complete with carrying case. On Saturday I made the most delicious batch of chili complete with beef and kidney beans, but I couldn’t figure out a good way to keep it warm. I’m super excited to bring this along to next week’s game. I haven’t exactly figured out what to make yet, but I have all week to figure that out. Total cost a little over $15 at Boscov’s.
Everyone raves about crock pots, but I've never tried one. Let us know how you like it for day to day use!
Pulled pork! The BEST crock pot meat, so good, and all you need to bring are some rolls to eat it on.
I second the pulled pork idea. allrecipes.com has a great recipe for doing one in the crockpot, but I have successfully done in with chicken breasts and chuck as well. They all come up great with the chicken of course being a lot healthier. Basically you throw your meat with a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce in the crockpot, cook until its falling apart, drain, shred, add more BBQ sauce and cook for a little bit to get that raw flavor of the BBQ sauce out. It's FANTASTIC. Really cheap too, if you keep your eyes out for meat on sale. You can really use any meat, as long as if you use a fattier cut or one with bones, you clean it up some before your final saucing. Easy peasy and delicious on a cool fall day.
